Time once again for a check-in with the Halifax Mermaids. Life has been a lot of fun for the fishy girls since the fall hit. We've had an unusually warm fall and the girls have been making the most of it. Public events have begun to wind down and private events are once again taking over. So let's see... where to start? Click Read More to see what we've been up to We started off Fall with a bang when our friend Christomer came to visit from NC. Christomer is the founder of NCMerfest- a mer-convention Sean and I attended last year and will be attending again this year. We had so much fun introducing Christomer to various Canadian traditions, foods, and local tourism. We also had a lot of fun swimming with him. Here are a few photos and videos from his visit While he was here, Christomer managed to convince Sean to try wearing a tail! Sean found it kind of tricky and painful. Haha he was glad to have the experience to understand what it's like for us mermaids, but he says he has no plans on being a merman anytime soon. For hilarity sake, here's a video of both Sean and Raina trying to put the tail on, and laughing from all the difficulty they're having. After all that crazy fun, Mutiny, Mimi, and Raina volunteered for the IWK Make Waves program. All the mermaids are big supporters of the IWK and some of us have been donating time and events for years now. It was a lovely time, the weather was shockingly beautiful, and the event did really well. Here are some photos from our FB page. Post by Halifax Mermaids. Raina had her big book release at Shore Thinks, thanks to the help of Derek the awesome owner. It was a lot of fun and many people came out. Raina was in tail along with Mutiny and upcoming Mermaid- Mermaid Victoria. Raina's 88 year old nanny even came out. The book is for sale here on this website under "book and merch" on the left hand side. Here are some photos from Facebook Post by Halifax Mermaids. We've been doing loads of birthday parties but don't always get a chance to pose photos due to privacy reasons. Here's a shot of a happy little girl at a party giving Mermaid Mutiny a great big hug! I wanted to take a moment to talk to you about the new furry addition to our family- Charlie Chaplin the kitten. Raina and Sean adopted him recently from a shelter called "Healing Animal Scars" and he's a CAT FISH. Charlie loves to be in the water! IN the shower, in the tub, he even likes to hop in the toilet. He has been such a wonderful addition and we can't encourage adopting cats or fostering enough. Mermaid Mimi has fostered kittens as well, and all the local mermaids own cats right now :) Here's some cute photos of him, he sure looks like he's becoming a mascot. We've been having a lot of fun between the bookings and our crazy behind the scenes life of mermaids. Here are some behind the scenes photos of Mermaid life the past month and a half! So what's coming up in mermaid- land? Raina is running an online workshop on photography and videography, above and below water, and editing on a budget! You can find details here It's on November 9th. Raina is continuing to add to the vlog resources and you can find them under "How to be a Mermaid" on the left. Raina and Sean are gearing up for their trip to NC in January and the girls are busy securing future gigs. We'll be at the following craft show as well. Mutiny and Mimi will be in costume, we'll be selling mer-chandise and books for Christmas gifts. Info is below We also created our 2015 calendar which is now available for purchase.
