Hi fish fans! With the summer season ending it’s time for a Halifax Mermaids check in! We’ve been so incredibly busy there’s just SO much to show you! Hold on to your sea shells, here we go!

When we last left you the mermaids had just finished the Pirate Festival and were going into a busy August. Raina did her final booking at the summer camp she’d been attending all summer and it was so much fun.  You can see photos and video below

Raina took part in the Eastern passage day Parade and spend some time with a new and upcoming mermaid, Mermaid Victoria. She just graduated and made her own fabric tail. She’s learning the ways of the mermaid and hoping to audition soon. The parade was a lot of fun, see below for photos and videos

Raina has been doing loads of private parties and bookings all summer and now into the fall. Mutiny and Raina did a booking at the Waegwoltic club and we got a few photos with merwrangler Spencer. It was great! Mutiny really showed her stuff. She’s an awesome mermaid and we’re so happy to have her on the team!

Raina got a dental appliance is and has been having fun-relearning how to talk. It’s made for some funny videos and party experiences for sure.  She started telling kids she wasn’t very good at English and could only speak mermaid, here she is speaking mermaid underwater for party guests!

We’d also like to recognize the contributions of our friends over at Mystic Knotwork. They are one of our sponsors and sent us some lovely bracelets. Here’s Raina modelling her favourite and a little video clip too

A music video that Raina and Naida filmed was released. You can watch it here. We appear at the end and there are some funny behind the scenes photos floating around our website ;)

Mermaid Mutiny and merwrangler Spencer got married. It was a beautiful wedding on board the Tall Ship Sylvia. Check out a few of the photos Raina snapped.

The last booking before Nessie left, was celebrated at Tallahassee days in Eastern passage. merwrangler Sean has a friend with a 3 year old daughter. This daughter has to deal with very serious illness. So serious she moved here just to get treatment at the IWK. I personally had a very difficult childhood due to circumstances around my birth and illness as well, but I wasn’t prepared for the story for what this little one had to go through. This little one goes through painful procedures daily so she can live. It’s so amazing sometimes when you hear about kids going through this stuff and then seeing them still be kids.

She loves mermaids. Love love. And when she came today to see us she spent a good chunk of time. I watched her laugh and dance around, climb up with mermaids and ask us questions and talk, sing, tell us funny stories. Her reward for being so good during all these treatments was to meet the mermaids. And we made sure it was the best experience possible. She was a normal kid today. Which to her and her family, isn’t taken lightly.

The whole Tallahassee days was just like that. Everyone being in character and going out of their way to create this fun storyline and include visitors in it. I know it made a difference to that little mer-fan, and I know it made a difference to everyone who made it out. From pilgrims who lead games and stories, pirates running around causing shenanigans , and shop owners who went all our to contribute to the experience.

Thank you to everyone who was involved! Us mermaids are honoured to have been a part and recognize the hard work of so many that went into making it so great. Click below for all our photos and videos- Raina

Some of the girls got together for a photoshoot. Here are some behind the scenes videos and some of the awesome photos we had taken.

Christomer Starfish, the awesome guy who runs NCMerfest, is visiting in Halifax right now. We’re talking shop and taking him on a tour of the city. It’s been great and you can see some pics in our “behind the scenes” album below.

We’d like to thank everyone who helped make our summer so magical. We are looking forward to a special fall. All of our clients, all the people who make an event work, Mystic Knotwork and Shorethings.  We are thankful to have had Mermaid Nessie with us so long and are sad to see her off to Newfoundland, but are happy we had so much time with her and know she will be great. You can keep up with her on the Atlantic Mermaids FB page. Thanks you so much everyone. Check out below for behind the scenes. Be sure to browse around the website as we’ve made changes and added things. Best fishes.
