Well Fishy fans, life sure has been insanely busy for us mermaids! Raina here, writing to you all. I haven't had much of a chance to post and new blogs, I'm sorry it's been a while. I thought I'd start it off with this silly photo of Chicklet and I doing yoga. I am doing yoga on a regular basis right now and it's really helping me cope with stress, chronic pain, and mermaid fitness so I can't recommend it enough! A lot has happened over May and now into June, so I'm going to take a few minutes here and give you the lo-down!!
Raina & Mimi at Princess Tea
As you can see from the photos above, Mimi and I had a real blast at the Princess Tea Party. This was my second year doing it and Mimi's third. The event is a fundraiser for Children's Wish. That organization sent me to Disney when I was a kid. We met so many little girls and a few little boys, all dressed up and there were lineups for us all around the place! We were really popular. These types of charities are so important to us, and I am so glad we had the chance to do it.
If you click this photo to your left you can see a little article that was published about us in Our Children Magazine. The article was a real hit and it's one of my favourite photos of me and a return client.
In other news, the first workshop I put on went really well. I have a second one scheduled in a few days, and thanks to the company Mystic Knotwork (who are going to be featured on our site after the latest update) sponsored me so I can now sell the recordings. You'll see that pop up under our "merch" section soon.
The mermaid vlogs are coming along well, and there are LOADS of videos that now teach you how to be a mermaid! I'll be adding a link to the left hand panel on this page for people to checkout. I get so many emails asking me how to be a mermaid it's just impossible for me to answer them all. The best thing to do is read my book, and check out the workshops, and check out the free vlogs!
Speaking of my book, it had it's 1st Birthday in May. Book #2 is in the final drafting stages and will soon be edited and formatted! I am hoping it'll be published toward the end of the summer, early fall at the latest.

Mermaid Mimi
If you didn't know our beautiful Mermaid Mimi is getting married really soon, in July! Woo. Merwrangler Sean and I are very excited to be helping out with a few things and being around to celebrate her special day. Mimi has been busy with birthday parties of the mermaid and princess kind, but I won't get in to her stuff too much because I'm hoping she'll be able to write her own blog post!
Mermaid's Nessie and Naida
Mermaid's Nessie and Naida have been keeping busy! Nessie has been active in the drama program at her high school. She recently did a production that fundraised money for a charity and blew everyone out of the water. She's been doing bookings with Mimi and I but also been off on her own! As you can see from the photos below she really shines.
Mermaid Naida has been my (Raina) saving grace! I've been keeping her busy with lots of gigs and the two of us have been running all over town like a bunch of mermaid crazies. We get so busy that sometimes there isn't even much of a chance to get photos but we certainly get into mermaid hi jinx and we're ready for another Fishy Summer.

World Ocean's Day 2014
Nessie came with me to do her first event celebration of World Ocean's day. We really had a blast! We met so many awesome kids and organizations, and a few critters too. This was my 5th year doing it and Nessie's 1st. We led mini workshops and circle times for all the kids who came through. It was so much fun and it's so important to us to keep encouraging kids to take care of the environment.

- Raina will be hosting her online workshop from 2:30-4:30 on June 14th
- Raina will be appearing at DND Family Days at the Dockyard on June 20th from 12-2pm
- Raina will be at the Multicultural Festival in the children's pavilion on June 21st 12-1:00 and 22nd 11-12 giving workshops on the history of mermaids across the globe, handing out treasures, and posing for photos.
- Naida, Mimi and Nessie will be outside Shore Things at Fisherman's Cove in Eastern Passage on Canada Day, times TBD
- Raina will be meeting campers at Indian Point Young Naturalist Club from 1-2:30 on July 9th
Raina will be at the Keshen Goodman Library on July 18th from 10:30-11:45 Reading books, speaking about the ocean, teaching about mermaids, handing out treasures, posing for pics and more! Come meet a real mermaid!
