Hello everyone! Can you believe the fall has gone, and winter is coming? It really is – we hate to say it- because we all miss the warmth of the sun and warm waters!
With the change of season has come a change in mermaids. First of all we’d like to welcome little Merling Aria. That’s right! Mermaid Mimi and Merwrangler Marc are the proud parents to this beautiful baby girl. The Halifax Mermaids are so proud of these beaming new parents. We are excited to spoil this sweet little one! With the comings and goings of mermaids, We have said goodbye this November to Mermaid Mutiny, and a new hello to Mermaid Ama. Mermaid Ama was once a contractor for Halifax Mermaids and took a break for school. Now she’s back in full force and we couldn’t be happier. She has been training in the blue Merbella’s tail, and has been volunteering to get her training hours. Soon she’ll be back to a full fledged mermaid and we are excited to have her team back up with us. You Can Follow Ama on Facebook For more.

Mermaid Nessie and Mermaid Victoria have both started new school programs. Nessie will be working toward her Early Childhood certificate, and Victoria is working toward Make Up artistry. Check out some of Victoria’s mermazing work on Instagram, and check out Mermaid Mimi who only a few months post-delivery, is strutting her human legs down the runway!

We started Fall with volunteering for Hope For Wildlife. Hope is a local wild animal rescue group that the Halifax Mermaids have been supporting for a few years. The mermaids enjoyed sitting in a koi pond, visiting with children, and then being in the dunk tank. We were also filmed for the Hope for Wildlife TV show and you should see us on it later this season. Check out the photos and videos below!

You remember our friend miss K? Well she did pretty well in the fall. Raina paid her a visit for her birthday. Check out the cute videos and photos below. We’ll have an update for you on Miss K soon.
We celebrated a special birthday with a special little girl! From our visits to the hospital, to swimming in the ocean. Miss K has come a long way. <3

Raina participated in two literacy programs in the Fall. One was for Word on the Street, and the other was for the Dartmouth Learning Network. Here at Halifax Mermaids we believe that literacy is so important. Mermaids love to read! Raina loved giving away free books about belugas!

Raina loved every minute of her workshops at Hal-Con Sci-Fi Con this year. It was a super amazing experience and she was happy to be a part of it. Check out photos below.
You may have noticed we’ve been giving loads of mermaid lessons using these specially made new monofins! We’re excited to announce we’ll be retailing these in Canada for all of you and your merlings! Check out some photos and videos below of the monofins in action and keep an eye on our page for updates. We are crossing our fins that we can get them in time for Fishmas!

We are proud to announce that Halifax Mermaids is teaming up with our tail makers Merbella Studios and Engineers through Dalhousie to create the first ever scientific study on the dynamics of mermaid tails. This study will be brought to you through the aquatron and will take a year to complete. We believe the knowledge gained will change the mermaid industry and provide us with knowledge about buoyancy, tail speed, movement, and more. Of course, Merbellas will be provided with new information for innovating their tail line! Special thanks to our friend Jim who is always helping us at the aquatron.
Raina and Sean took a quick trip to Florida to celebrate Raina’s Birthday. We met retired Weeki mermaids, enjoyed Disney courtesy of some friends in the mermaid community (thank you Ashley and Krystal), swam with sharks (Thanks Shaye!) visited the springs, and more! Check out some of the highlights! Raina will be posting more videos and photos on her personal blog so keep an eye out.
Raina is proud to announce she’ll be attending Mermania 2016 in North Carolina as a guest speaker and also working the children’s event. You can come to the media workshops and Raina will teach you how to make money off youtube!
