Hello fishy fans! My are we over due for an update! I try and update the blog once a month so I don't get too behind but with everything going on for mermaids... it just didn't happen. So, let's talk about December! We did some awesome kid's parties, made a donation and a trip to Hope for Wildlife, and had a cool fishy staff party :) Let's take a look...

We were lucky enough to get a tour of the centre when we made our donation. We are happy to say we'll be donating our time to the Open house where we'll be performing as mermaids on Aug 30th to help raise money! Check out the photos from our tour below.

We also had a really fun Halifax Mermaids Fishmas party. We experimented with an underwater photoshoot testing out our new gopro. The photos didn't work like we hoped- in fact we barely got one usable photo of each mermaid! But we did take some video and have a LOT of fun... we have a serious video, and then a really silly one. The mermaids all had a lovely fishmas and the girls were introduced to the film Splash for the first time. Hehe! Then we hit new years. I (Raina) wrote a big thank you that you can view here, to thank everyone who helped us in 2014. What a year it was for mermaids. Thank you so much for everything!
For New Years I (Raina) travelled to North Caroline for the second merfest- a mermaid convention! It was so amazing. While I was there, I was interviewed for a book and several news articles, filmed for a documentary (made by awesome Canadians!), received my new and amazing MERBELLAS TAIL that I am so in love with, got to meet my mer-idol Hannah Fraser and sing with her and mermaid Kariel on stage, meet so many amazing merfriends, and even managed some time to get some fairy hair sparkle in my hair. Sean was given an award for being the best merwrangler. Also, while I was away it was Mermaid Mutiny's Birthday, then Mermaid Nessie's, then Mermaid Mimis! So I had some friends help me out wishing them a happy birthday. I have SO many photos and videos... you can see lots on FB but here's a few highlights... merfest also gathered lots of media attention which I was lucky enough to be a part of. I really really love my new mermaid tail. A lot of people have asked me for a comparison video looking at the old one and the new one. So here's a few videos for you so you have an idea. I can't recommend Merbellas enough.
We had so much fun doing a special event in January, the Girl's Empowerment Workshop in Sussex NB. We had a lot of help from the mer community in pulling it off so we're planning on doing a blog just about it. For now we have some great photos from this amazing event where we tried to empower young girls.
