Work for the Halifax Mermaids!
We are not currently hiring any new mermaids or taking on any volunteers. We do not accept unsolicited resumes for mermaid work at this time, and we have a minimum hiring age of 19+
MERWRANGLER NEEDED
Pay range is from $70-$120 per 1-2 hour shift with additional travel fees provided when required.
What is a merwrangler? A merwrangler is the term we’ve coined for the person who assists the mermaids!

So what do we do for you?
In our work you’re going to get to collaborate with some amazing mermaids. Our company has achieved worldwide acclaim and success, and we have HUGE projects in the works. We make frequent appearances in the media, travel, and get to meet some really interesting people. We also train you on cool media related skills!
Merwranglers are hired on a sub-contractor base. While we do our best to provide as much work as possible, we maintain a roster and hours are given out based on your availability and the current bookings. There is no guarantee for hours, but you do NOT need to maintain a specific schedule for us. We understand you may have school, other work, or family commitments. Whenever a booking comes down the line the owner will go through the roster of both mermaids and merwranglers to find who is available, and who will be the best fit.
Pay varies from gig to gig and is pre-negotiated with the client, the team, and yourself. Occasionally we do bookings for charity at a discounted rate, and we also do some volunteering. You are not expected to work discounted gigs or volunteer. We encourage it, but we will never force you to do it. You will always be given the upfront information so you can make a decision. Accommodations will be covered by clients for any out of province gigs.
So What Next?
Check out these photos below to see what life as a merwrangler is like. Check out our “past clients” to see the cool things we’ve done, and browse around the site to learn more!
Then, send your resume and a cover letter to Raina. Include references. Successful applicants will be contacted for an interview. If your interview is successful we will invite you to “job shadow” on a booking or two (ideally we’ll try to show you a variety of what we do) so you can be sure you have accurate expectations, and we can see how you think on your feet.
Good luck and BEST FISHES!
