Hello fishy fans! It once again has been too long since we’ve given you an update! Of course our mermaids have been very busy! We get so busy we just don’t have a chance to update this poor blog very often, but my how things keep growing and changing!
Backing up a little to November where we left off, we have a few neat videos to share with you from Raina’s trip to Florida. First, check out her experience swimming with sharks at the Florida Aquarium:

December was a time of holiday, winter, and family. Raina had the wonderful experience of helping a grandma become a mermaid with her family! You are never too young to be a mermaid. Mermaid swimming brings joy to all!
Ama got to have her first experience swimming in the Aquatron, training for the study we’ve spent the last few months working for. Check out the video below, she was a natural
Ama and Raina performed on New Year’s Eve with the help of merwranglers Sean and this time Nessie! The mers performed alongside famous Canadian musicians and acts, celebrated the countdown, and cheered with fireworks. It was a real splash and such an experience.
The very next day Raina was off to NCmermania where she gave workshops and helped with the kid’s activities. You can see highlights from the trip in the album below!

Next, Ama, Merwrangler Steve, and Sean worked through a weekend snowstorm to once again host the Girl’s Empowerment Workshop in Sussex NB. The event got some media coverage through cbc. We haven’t had much time to edit the videos but you can listen to a radio interview about the event below, and check out the photos!

In January we also launched our new logos created by Sunaiad Creative. We can’t thank Daphne enough for all of her hard work. They are simply stunning and we have been enjoying the rebranding process!
Raina snuck in some time to photoshoot a concept with Nessie and Victoria. Here’s a preview of the spring-inspired results.

Raina had a book trilogy published about ecology for kids and appeared alongside a turtle. We will have details on ordering the books soon
We finished off February with a fundraiser for the Children’s Wish Foundation. This foundation sent Raina to Disney when she was a kid. Raina got up close and personal with an 8 legged friend…
Raina enjoyed working for a charity that did so much for her as a kid.

Raina got the awesome chance to film a promo video for a service she uses a lot called a “Float”. A float is a high concentration magnesium bath in a sensory deprivation pod. It can help with stress, sleep issues, illness, and chronic pain. Check out the video

What do we have upcoming? SO MUCH!
First of all we fundraised to replace Mermaid Mimi’s tail and she’ll be having one of my old tails, upcycled to create a new silicone tail for her! Thank you so much to everyone who contributed! We also want to say best fishes to Mermaid Mimi on moving into her first home! She’s now a home owner. Baby Aria is getting bigger every day too.
Also, This month Mimi is awarded the LIFE SAVING AWARD for saving a drowning boy. At 9 months pregnant with a high risk pregnancy, Mimi jumped into the ocean this past August to save a boy who was struggling. Congrats Mimi we are so proud of you.

Next, Mermaid Victoria has launched her own makeup FB page so you can see all of her talents. We’d also like to congratulate Mermaid Victoria on the successful completion of her makeup program! She’s an official MUA now and was even featured on CBC!
If you haven’t seen our big news ALL OVER FACEBOOK we are officially OPENING A SWIM SCHOOL IN DARTMOUTH. It opens NEXT WEEK. You can read about it here. Previously we ran swim school workshops all across NS and NB but didn’t have the schedule to allow for a weekly class. With a little tweaking this is now something we can do, and we couldn’t be more excited for it.
Next we will also finally start selling Mermaid Monofins through Body Glove and Mermaid Linden. We personally feel these are the best monofins on the market and are so excited. Follow our other FB page here and subscribe to our mailing list for information about these great fins!
